History

The Community Trust of Southland was established in 1988 to hold, on behalf of the community, ownership of Trust Bank Southland. In 1996 the Trust sold its shareholding in Trust Bank to Westpac for $158 million. This forms the basis of the global investment fund that the Trust now administers.

The purpose of the Community Trust of Southland is to manage its investments and apply the income from these investments by way of grants for charitable, philanthropic, recreational and other purposes beneficial to the Southland community.
