Community Leadership Scholarships are for the purpose of developing greater capacity for leadership in the Southland Community, and to enhance understanding of leadership to ensure that our leaders have the necessary skills to help guide our organisations and communities forward.
Recent Community Leadership Scholarship Recipients
Am I Eligible?
- You will need to demonstrate your personal character and capacity for leadership.
- You will need to provide details as to why you wish to undertake the proposed course of study and what you wish to gain from the course.
- You will need to demonstrate your commitment and motivation to serve the Southland area.
- You will need to provide evidence of your community involvement in the Southland area.
- Individuals must have resided in the CTOS’ area for no less than two years. Consideration will be given to those who have left the area for further study but whose immediate family still reside in the area.
- Applicants must demonstrate a need for the financial assistance being applying for.
Funding may be available to cover the following:
- Course fees and related administration costs.
- Costs incurred in transport and travel for study.
- Course materials.
- Living costs while studying/training.
- Compensation for loss of earnings (if applicable).
- Other items which the Trustees may consider warrant funding.

Information for Recipients
Community Leadership scholarship recipients are required to supply CTOS with the following information prior to the payment of their scholarship:
- a signed Conditions and Obligations form.
- a recent photograph.
- a bank coded deposit slip.
- a progress report detailing recent achievements/highlights.
An accountability report will need to be submitted once the training or workshop to which the funding was awarded for has taken place.
Recipients are eligible to re-apply for a Community Leadership Scholarship in twelve months time from the date that their last scholarship was approved.
